SynaMed’s simple, color-coded calendar makes organizing visits easy. The program allows the viewing of schedules for multiple physicians and offices on one screen in customizable formats. Co-payments and appointment statuses appear directly on the calendar. Calendars are formatted for easy printout. Another convenient scheduling feature is SynaMed’s automatic appointment confirmation calls. Doctors can sign up for automatic confirmation calls for a few cents on average per call. Patients will receive automated phone calls with the option to confirm, cancel, or submit a rescheduling request. Physicians and staff can also enter notes to be automatically transcribed and read to patients on the call.

Health Maintenance
The Health Maintenance system, beyond contraindications, prompts staff and providers of recommended procedures for patients that meet physician-defined criteria. EMR warning systems with these features have been shown to reduce adverse reactions by 85 percent, as shown in a recent study from the Gartner Group. SynaMed utilizes a library of Health Maintenance rules derived from American Medical Association guidelines, as well as rules created by clinicians, all included within the system. Upon practice setup, the practice chooses which sets of health maintenance and preventive rules to activate.
