Electronic prescribing is offered free through SynaMed. This is a feature that allows physicians to submit prescriptions via the Internet to pharmacies, and receive and respond to electronic refill requests on behalf of patients. A patient’s current medication list, as well as complete past medication history can be easily and instantaneously accessed with Synamed. With its advanced warning system, the system informs users of contraindications (for example drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions) based on the patient’s diagnoses. Live formulary checking allows users to quickly verify whether a drug is covered at the point of care. All formulary, drug database, and interaction data are regularly updated. Prescriptions using built-in fax technology and traditional Rx printouts are also available.
